All the pretty winter snow has inspired me to create these cute baby Yetis that I've named Yeti Snowflakes.

octokitty plush
Meet Chester Copperfield (middle) and his friends the Yeti Snowflakes. Chester Cooperfield, is known as the world's happiest winter plush, he was born in a t-shirt factory during a winter snow storm. Born surrounded by clothing and snow, Chester's favorite thing to do is "dress up time", particularly in winter clothes. With his favorite season being winter, Chester loves the snow, sledding, tubing and all the games you can do in the cold. Even in the summer, he never takes off his snow outfit. His life goal is to one day take his friends and family to the north pole for a vacation. If you are a snowy person, Chester is the right plush for you! Unlike the rest of us, he is enjoying the big snow storms and cold weather across the United if you need a cheer-me-up from someone who loves this time of year, Chester will be there for you.

Chester is available in my esty store the Yeti Snowflakes are only available if you contact me by mail (dennrodriguez@gmailcom), they are $35 a piece.

A Post-Apocalyptic plush

Minsk Denn Rodriguez plush
Minsk Denn Rodriguez plush

In the year 2012, after the apocalypse, the earth's population was reduced to 3 people and 5 plushies. During these difficult times, all of Earth's inhabitants (8 individuals in all) were forced underground to flee the depleting ozone layer. In order to thwart their impending doom, the remaining inhabitants were forced to permanently wear hazmat suits and gas masks. During a freak washing machine accident underground, Minsk, the leader of the Post-Apocalyptic plushies, lost both arms attempting to save the last sweater caught in the machine's evil lint trap. Considered the smartest of the plushies, Minsk is a wiz at problem solving and is a dedicated companion for anyone. Don't be fooled by his lack of arms, he can still kick butt (even if its now only with his stubby legs!!!)

Minsk is available in my etsy shop.

Baby Little Foot & Miss Cupcake

Meet Baby Little Foot, son of Big Foot, he is a 5 month old forest monster who doesn’t know much about cities or technology. He spends his days identifying thousands of different types of leaves and kinds of dirt. He loves hiking in the forest with his best friend, a dung beetle named Matthew. Like all Little Foots, Baby Little Foot can read and write, but his favorites things to do are riding a bicycle and playing pranks on hunters, scientists, and Big Foot enthusiasts. Most people think he is a little boy in fuzzy pajamas, but be warned, he is a tough cookie and willing to protect his family and the creatures of the forest.

Next to him is little Miss Cupcake, she spends most of her time in the kitchen cooking interesting sweets like cardboard cake cookies, jambalaya donuts, and pancake cheesecakes. Miss Cupcake loves coming up with odd combinations, and, for a while now, she's been working on creating the perfect pizza stuffed French toast. Most of her sweet creations are donated to the local children's hospital, but most usually end up in the trash can. She doesn't usually eat the treats herself because she says she's trying to "maintain her girlish figure". All the children love her (not her cooking) and call her a master baker with a heart of brown sugar.

These two plushies have sold and are no longer available in my etsy store. They are traveling to their new home in South Carolina.

Masked Pirates

Meet Captain Ratón and First Mate Skull.

These two cute masked pirates sail the Caribbean Sea in search of treasure. As you can see they are very stylish. Together they hope to use their found fortunes to launch their own line of designer masks. That day could be today, after many weeks at sea they have finally found where "the X marks the spot", to bad they forgot their shovels. I guess the runways of the world will have to wait.

Now Settled in Buffalo

This is not what I usually post, but I am doing it to keep you up to date on why the lack of postings. This is how it goes. A few weeks ago my girlfriend and I did the long move from Boca Raton, FL to Buffalo, NY. Why? ...Well because it was time for a new adventure... among other reasons.

I can tell you first hand that moving a 2 bedroom apartment, 2 cars and a 50+ pounds dog 2,000 miles away is not an easy task. Hence the lack of posts to my blog. I promise that that will stop very soon. I already have my eye on an upcoming art show and will start working in a new piece for it. I will post some pictures of that as soon I get started. For now I leave you with a few pictures of our travel.

"Star Wars"

Star Wars Denn Rodriguez
Some older stuff that needed to be placed here. My interpretation of some Star Wars characters, (from left to right) Chubaka, Han Solo, Wampa and an Ewok luchador (wrestler).

Zombie Bear

I just finished a commissioned piece entitled Zombie Bear. He is the love child of Monster #2 of Resident Evil (the movie) and Teddy Ruxpin, the creepy talking doll from the 80's (yeah we all remember him). Zombie Bear was born with an ingrained love for brains, legwarmers and 1980's horror movies.

As you can see, he has a bone hand, brains coming out of his head, those are worms coming out of his eye and a pocket where he keeps his heart. Click "read more" (under the image) to see more images.

Collaborative Art Show

Artist Joshua Surprenant and I (Denn Rodriguez) were involved in a collaborative, live art show this Thursday, July 1, at Respectables, a night club on Clematis Street in Downtown West Palm Beach. This one-night event required two artists to collaborate and create a unique art piece in front of a live audience. Joshua and I decided to create a Dia de los Muertos sugar skull mask, Joshua's forté, and cover it with felt, which I typically use to make my plush creations.

For more pictures, visit this album.
If you are interested in having your own sugar skull mask, contact me or Joshua Surprenant.
