New Work

I may not have been posting much in the past few weeks, but is not because I am not creating anything new. In the contrary I been busy working on new characters and commissions and haven't had a chance to take pictures and post here. ...How I wish I had an assistant.

I still have plans to finish at least 2 more pieces for an upcoming art show I have in Florida (see previous blog post). Even though I already have plans for tonight (Friday), tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday I am hoping to get some work done in between and before Tuesday, when I board a plane to Florida. I really want to do a Cat in the Hat and the Things 1 and 2.

Wednesday, March 23 starting at 8:00pm I'll be participating in the famous Art Nouveau's live art show at the Lounge (West Palm, FL). I used to do this event all the time when I lived in Florida. They are always an awesome party with a bunch of talented artists and surprises.

Last night I was working on some illustrations for the event, my very own Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 Thing 2. If you are not making it to the show, you'll have to wait until after the event to see them. I'll be turning those illustrations into stickers and other printed items. I am expecting to also have some Grinch plush and maybe some other Dr. Seuss characters. You'll have to come to the art show to see them as well and to find out what else I come up with.

Friendly Wampa

These are a new set of Friendly Wampas I "found" this weekend. I was able to take a few rare images before they ran and hide. I was able to follow them and capture them to put them up for adoption. I already have many pet monster and can't afford two feed two new ones. If you are interested in adopting one of this cute Wampa's visit my store to do so.






One of these cute creatures already has a new home in North Carolina, the other one is still up for adoption. Others of his kind are available as a commision. You'll need to contact me for that, visit my website to fill out a contact form.

New Cards

For a long time I been wanting to design a new business card, specially one that had my correct information on it. I couldn't think of a better time to do it than right now, at the beginning of a new year. My goal for this card was to make something cute and fun but a bit more professional than my previous card. I am still debating if I should make the corners rounded. What do you think? Did I achieve my goal?

Also in the back burner I am working on a fun octokitty.com layout. Right now it gets re-directed to my website. But I hope to have two distinguishable websites in the future. Probably not in the near future, but soon!

Your own little shop

We all know of Etsy and how awesome it is. Right?

But did you know of Big Cartel?


No? Neither did I until a few weeks ago.

So what is Big Cartel? Is this great service that lets you create your own online shop. It even offers a free 5 items. I am just staring to test it out so I am using the free trial. Check it out dennrodriguez.bigcartel.com. It was very easy to put together, specially since I already have an Etsy store. It even gives me the option to link back to my website. I am hoping that one day I can have my own costume store.... a girl can only dream. :)

I recently came across another site that fit this online shop theme, Tradepal.

This site lets you sell, trade even give away and item for free. It's free to list your item and you can even add multiple images for free. At the point of sell Tradepal charges individual sellers a flat transaction fee amounting to 6% of the final transaction price. If that works for you go check it out. I also made store here... well they call it garage. Check out my garage.
