These are a new set of Friendly Wampas I "found" this weekend. I was able to take a few rare images before they ran and hide. I was able to follow them and capture them to put them up for adoption. I already have many pet monster and can't afford two feed two new ones. If you are interested in adopting one of this cute Wampa's visit my store to do so.

A Post-Apocalyptic plush

Minsk Denn Rodriguez plush
Minsk Denn Rodriguez plush

In the year 2012, after the apocalypse, the earth's population was reduced to 3 people and 5 plushies. During these difficult times, all of Earth's inhabitants (8 individuals in all) were forced underground to flee the depleting ozone layer. In order to thwart their impending doom, the remaining inhabitants were forced to permanently wear hazmat suits and gas masks. During a freak washing machine accident underground, Minsk, the leader of the Post-Apocalyptic plushies, lost both arms attempting to save the last sweater caught in the machine's evil lint trap. Considered the smartest of the plushies, Minsk is a wiz at problem solving and is a dedicated companion for anyone. Don't be fooled by his lack of arms, he can still kick butt (even if its now only with his stubby legs!!!)

Minsk is available in my etsy shop.

Baby Little Foot & Miss Cupcake

Meet Baby Little Foot, son of Big Foot, he is a 5 month old forest monster who doesn’t know much about cities or technology. He spends his days identifying thousands of different types of leaves and kinds of dirt. He loves hiking in the forest with his best friend, a dung beetle named Matthew. Like all Little Foots, Baby Little Foot can read and write, but his favorites things to do are riding a bicycle and playing pranks on hunters, scientists, and Big Foot enthusiasts. Most people think he is a little boy in fuzzy pajamas, but be warned, he is a tough cookie and willing to protect his family and the creatures of the forest.

Next to him is little Miss Cupcake, she spends most of her time in the kitchen cooking interesting sweets like cardboard cake cookies, jambalaya donuts, and pancake cheesecakes. Miss Cupcake loves coming up with odd combinations, and, for a while now, she's been working on creating the perfect pizza stuffed French toast. Most of her sweet creations are donated to the local children's hospital, but most usually end up in the trash can. She doesn't usually eat the treats herself because she says she's trying to "maintain her girlish figure". All the children love her (not her cooking) and call her a master baker with a heart of brown sugar.

These two plushies have sold and are no longer available in my etsy store. They are traveling to their new home in South Carolina.

Zombie Bear

I just finished a commissioned piece entitled Zombie Bear. He is the love child of Monster #2 of Resident Evil (the movie) and Teddy Ruxpin, the creepy talking doll from the 80's (yeah we all remember him). Zombie Bear was born with an ingrained love for brains, legwarmers and 1980's horror movies.

As you can see, he has a bone hand, brains coming out of his head, those are worms coming out of his eye and a pocket where he keeps his heart. Click "read more" (under the image) to see more images.

Meet Octoquish

Last night while looking for an adventure I spotted this little critter, eating everything in the fridge!!! Don't let his cute appearance fool you. He calls himself Octosquish and can eat like a dragon. I know what you are thinking... how? With what mouth? Somewhere in between that soft, cute, orange fur there's a huge bottomless pit. I'm serious! No joke! I need to keep a constant eye on him, so I moved him to the office where there is nothing he can eat and he can hang with Mr. Gorilla pain. Hopefully they'll get long.

If you want to venture and take any of these two monsters home... they are super friendly and actually like to cuddle. Well anyway, they available at my etsy store.

Serene Monsters for Small Stuff 3

6 x 6 canvas, ready to hang.

This weekend I gave Serene Monster the final touch, made the background lighter, added a bit of shadow, made the monsters eyes and gave it an UV coating. I was thinking on giving it a gloss coating but I always have problems with that spray and I really wasn't in the mood to mess the painting up. So UV spray it is.

The painting will be part of the show Small Stuff 3 @ Bear and Bird gallery. Show opens Nov. 22 and unlike other shows this time when you buy it you can take it home on the spot. I'm planning on getting there early to see all the pieces and buy some before they are gone.

Serene Monsters

This is my latest project, Serene Monster, for the upcoming Small Stuff 3 show at the Bear and Bird Gallery. It based on a previous sketch I made called 'Los Tres Reyes' (The Three Kings) but this this show I dropped the crowns and added one more monster. The are some color corrections that I still have to make. I think I should be able to finish the painting this week. Is a 6"x 6" canvas, not too time consuming.

"Sea Monster" Workshop

Finally the last creature for the workshop is done. He was suppose to be a mean and scary Sea Monster but ended looking more like a cute and friendly Sea Horse. I like him better that way. Gives me the chance to pet him without having my arms ripped off.

How it works out
So far, the idea is that attendants to the event have the ability to create one of these tree creatures. With the help of the "workshop teacher" Amanda, and some other people that will be there to help. I'll be one of those other people.
How do you attend this show you ask? Well that is easy! The one and only thing you have to do is go here and register. Well I guess after that you also have to show up to the actual event. But you know what I mean. On a side note, some of these events tend to get booked very quickly since the space is very limited (20 people limited). So you don't want to wait for the last minute to try and register. Don't be mad at me if you do wait and then there is no space. I did warn you. Multiple times.

Minimal skill is required to create these creatures. Some are bit more difficult than others but don't be afraid they are not hard. My idea was to create cute creatures that everybody could customize to their liking and have fun while making them. So come and have fun making a naked chef/naked farmer/naked space man or a dumb yeti or a sea monster/sea horse. You can even change them to be something more your style. Can't wait to see the new creations!

Workshop Coming Soon!

Best Friends! ...or Food source?

Explanation needed?

Every month the Bear and Bird Gallery is host to the Bear and Bird Workshops. Recently they started an artist series. Where a guest artist creates a unique pattern especially for the workshop. Rosanna Pereyra kicked off the series with the cutes little stuffed bears. They were super fun to make. Coming up is my turn and my theme is Mythical Creatures. tan ta ta tan!!! ...that sounded way better in my head. Before I forget, I'm working on a 3rd pattern for this workshop, something in the realm of Sea Monster. Just want to make sure to give everybody creative options.
If you are in the area and would like to participate in this workshop or upcoming workshop join their mailing list. This way they can let you know when the next one is coming up and you don't miss it and cry a little. (yeah, that's never pretty).

More Plushies!

These are some new and old plushies. Some of them I was able to do with my grandmother while visiting my family in Puerto Rico. She though me so much!

I took all my patterns to Puerto Rico to print them in a larger format and still my friend drom work wants to see the luchador bigger. Seriously! He is big enough. Where would I keep him if I make him any bigger? anyway. When my computer decides to upload pictures I will do so. :)

Mrs Pontico : Hula Dancer

Mrs. Pontico is the happiest hula dancer ever. She has mad skills and a beautiful smile, don’t tell her otherwise because she won’t hesitate to rip your arms off and make you eat glass. Pretty smile, pretty, pretty smile. SMILE!!! (Mrs Pontico is fully done in Illustrator and uses one coconut image for the texture of her coconuts.)

My Interests and Future Plans

In the future my plan is to add some stuff that I'm interested in, that I have done, that I will be doing and that I would like to do. Woa. That's a lot of I. I'm not really self centered but after all it is my blog. Well I lets start with a few of my interests.

Lets see... Traveling will definitely have to be my #1. I actually have a trip planned for next month to go to Mexico with a couple of friends. Rhianna and Joshua, both super awesome, talented and funny to no end.

Now between 2 -150 it will have to be, eating, making friends, listening to good music.. sometimes even some bad music as long as its fun, hanging with friends, going out with friends, making new friends... wait, I said that last one already. I really like art and to do art, but I don't really consider myself an artist. Maybe that will change in the future. I really like fishing. My girl friend just taught me how to do it last year. Now I'm better than her... yeah I wish. I also like diving, driving around the country, camping, drinking socially and experiencing new things, places, and cultures. Oh yeah I also LOVE making Plushies!!!! (check out the latest magazine from that link). Something that I want to do in the near future is some stencils and silk screening.

This crazy friend of mine, Dan and I keep bouncing ideas off of each other. So far we have a movie, 2 books and a bunch of different art pieces.
